Bandwidth is the amount of data (text, images,sound,video) that can be transferred over the network in a fixed amount of time. On the internet it is usually expressed in bits per second (bps) or in higher units like Mbps (millions of bits per second). can be sent through a connection at anyone time.
Think of bandwidth as a water pipe the bigger the pipe the greater amount of water can pass through it and any time.
