A text file sent by a website and stored on the visitors pc that is used to record a user’s activities on a particular websites.
The information saved in the cookie can be used to save the contents of shopping carts, track affiliate links clicked on,save a users website password etc.
If you have ever started to shop on a website and them closed down the browser only for you to return to the exact same position on the website next time you visit. This was facilitated by the use of a cookie stored on your PC.
The cookie can only be read and interpreted by the web server that created it.
