Geo-Targeting is a process of determining the physical location of a web site visitor and then delivering different content to them based on their location such as country, region, state or city.
This information is determined by analysing the IP address of the visitors computer which is location specific.
This is routinely done to display different advertising or to display service costs in the local currency of the site visitor.
On-line media companies will use geo-targeting to restrict access to content which may not be shown in some countries due to local laws or licence restrictions.
