An article on a website written by someone other than someone employed by the website owner.
Website owners may invite other writers in order to increase the content available to their visitors and commonly to provide information written by authors with more specialist knowledge on a particular topic.
The website owner will often let the guest writer include a link to their own website in return.
This is a mutually beneficial arrangement in that the website owner gets the advantage of credibility with providing more specialist knowledge to their visitors and the guest writer can promote their own website.
