Metadata is data (or information) about data.
Example:
If you look in your computer’s file manager or file explorer at an image file you will see information including the file size and date created. This is file metadata.
The image file may also contain metadata such as the size of the image, image resolution, colour depth etc. Not visible to the human eye but embedded in the image file code.
